Checkerboard Pizza was founded by Ken Forkish, James Beard award winning cookbook author and founder of Portland’s Ken’s Artisan Bakery and Ken’s Artisan Pizza. Ken’s recipes are an homage to New York & Italian pizza styles with an eye on quality,seasonal ingredients and a crust that was built on years of cookbook research completed while writing The Elements of Pizza and Flour Water Salt Yeast.
Taking the helm at Checkerboard Pizza is Master Pizzaiolo Clint Bohling, a culinary artist with a deep-rooted passion for pizza craftsmanship. With years of experience in both traditional and modern pizzeria settings, Clint’s skill and execution carry forward the award winning recipes and methods established by Ken Forkish.
